'16 and Pregnant' And Living In New Zealand
The second series of ‘16 & Pregnant’ has been a huge success in New Zealand, and it’s little wonder why, when the country has one of the hightest rates of teen pregnancies in the world.
A few weeks ago, we decided to talk to young kiwi mothers about their first-hand experience in dealing with being '16 & Pregnant’. We asked our young mothers to watch the second episode, which follows the story of Nikkole Paulun, a popular cheerleader who’s boyfriend Josh breaks up with her when he learns she is pregnant. They reconcile, only for Josh to start dating his ex-girlfriend behind Nikkole’s back.
This is what they had to say…
My Response: Hayley
I liked this episode with Nikkole, although the poor girl had a loser boyfriend. I was happy to see her and her mom had a much nicer relationship than Janelle and her mum in the first episode. She was also a better mum than Janelle because it seemed she really cared about that little boy and it was good to see that not all teenage moms just give up. But Nikkloe’s boyfriend Josh was just horrible. What did she even see in him in the first place? He was a smart a**, controlling, a liar as well as a cheat. I’m glad he left her because she would have been dragged through the mud until she broke. It’s better sooner rather than later.
My Response: Amelia
I think Nikkole is doing the right thing about not getting back with Josh because he doesn’t know how to respect people. I think the programme is good because it shows how teenage moms cope with being pregnant as well as being a parent.
Make sure you catch the next episode of ‘16 and Pregnant’ Monday @ 9.30pm only on MTV.
