2 Chainz arrested for narcotics possession at LAX airport
Yesterday, reports surfaced that 2 Chainz had been found with marijuana on him while trying to board a plane at Los Angeles International Airport – but an official report released by LAX Airport Police reveals that rapper was also carrying other narcotics in his checked baggage.
According to MTV News, the statement reveals that Chainz (real name Tauheed Epps) was not only in possession of marijuana, but also a bottle of promethazine and codeine at the time of his arrest on Tuesday.
“At approximately 1pm, Airport Police Officers responded for a narcotics investigation in the baggage check area of Terminal 5,” read the report from LAX Airport Police public information officer Sergeant Belinda Nettles.
“Transportation Security Administration advised Airport Police officers they found marijuana and a bottle of promethazine with codeine (purple drink/syrup) in the checked bag of 35-year-old Tauheed Epps (2 Chainz), a resident of Riverdale, Georgia.
“Airport Police Officers investigation revealed Epps was on board an outbound flight, he was removed from the aircraft and arrested for California Penal Code Section 11350a H & S -- Possession of a controlled substance. Epps was transported to the Airport Police station for preliminary processing and transported to and booked at the LAPD Pacific Division Jail without incident.”
TMZ reports that the MC was booked on a felony narcotics possession charge, but MTV News could not reach a spokesperson for the rapper to confirm the charge at press time.
Early on Wednesday morning, 2 Chainz took to Twitter to deny the incident, writing: “Nobody took Anything from me, I didn’t get shot, I’m not in jail, Don’t know wut else to tell ya. Sorry if I disappointed anyone, maybe next time.”
The arrest comes just a day after Chainz also denied being robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco, despite police confirming the incident.
