Alice's Sunday Secret
He’s the shock rocker who’s famous for his fascination with guillotines and horror movies, and he was once even barred from a venue for being ‘anti-Christian’ – so it comes as some surprise that Alice Cooper has a secret hobby – teaching bible class at his local church!
The ageing rocker, who is the son of a pastor and is credited for helping to shape the ‘shock rock’ metal genre, told The Sun,
"You should see the look on people's faces. 'Alice Cooper teaching Bible class? But he's the spawn of the Devil!'"
"Surely people get it by now — Alice is just a character. Alice hates going to church, but I go every Sunday" he added.
Alice, who in the past has battled alcohol addiction, said he finally got the inspiration to clean up his hard-partying lifestyle after his daughter Calico was born in 1981.
"Before Cali came along I was living Alice's life. Every day was just one big party, fuelled by a bottle of whisky and case of beer" he said.
Meanwhile, the born again Christian has defended his much criticized decision to team up with kooky pop singer Ke$ha.
According to contactmusic.com, Alice originally wanted to collab with horror-film icon Christopher Lee, but when he discovered he was already recording his own metal album, Cooper choose the ‘Tik Tok’ singer instead to create the new track ‘What Baby Wants’.
"I met Ke$ha at the Grammy Awards... and she looked like a female Robert Plant... I told her, 'Ke$ha, you're in the wrong business. You should be doing rock.' So I invited her. I said, 'Let's write some songs'."
"She comes to deliver the nightmare... She goes, 'What baby wants, baby gets. Let's go'. Christopher Lee wouldn't have been able to sing that, but a girl from the hip-hop world makes all the sense in the world in Alice's nightmare. And she nailed it."
