Wino: Back To Booze
Troubled-but-talented toothpick, Amy Winehouse, has pulled out of her big comeback show because she's too boozed-up.
The skinny singer was set to return - like a big-haired phoenix from the flames - and headline a gig at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London, on May 31. But she has disappointed - although we're sure, not surprised – fans and label bosses by pulling out.
There has been no official line on the cancellation but friends and family say the truth is: Amy is too blotto to perform.
Her tabloid-friendly mum, Janice, told UK magazine, Closer: “It's just another one of Amy's addictions getting the better of her. It's yet another demon she has to beat.
"She came off drugs on her own so I know she'll stop drinking too much, too. It has to be her decision though, no one else can stop her."
Earlier this month, the soulful stick insect shocked fans with a wobbly slur-fest of performance at a jazz festival on the island of St Lucia. She was later taken to hospital after her mammoth booze bender turned ugly. Unfortunately that didn’t stop her and she has collapsed and received medical attention off the back of an alcohol binge, twice since.
Her mum assured: "Two of her closest friends are going to try to calm her down a bit. I think it will make a big difference because in the past few weeks she's been bored.
"Amy knows her drinking ruined the performance. Of course her band is frustrated, but even they can't stop her."
Amy, you've swapped crack for alcopops, would it be so hard to swap the alcopops for Paddle Pops? Hmm...
