Noel And Liam Reunite?
It’s the question every Oasis fan wants to know - will long-feuding brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher ever put their beef behind them and start making music again?
Maybe. In a lengthy interview with Grantland, Noel conceded that he knows he’ll have to make up with Liam at some time or another – just don’t expect it to happen any time soon.
"We never hung out together outside of the band, ever," he says. "Now, of course, at some point I'm going to have to sit in a f**king room with Liam again. Hopefully time will heal some of these wounds. But if you're asking me if it's going to be this Christmas — not a f**king chance."
But first, he said, he felt it was necessary Liam took "responsibility for the f**king words he was saying."
He said: “I have a circle of friends, and he kept saying things that were upsetting to these people. And for years I ignored it, because I thought the band was more important. But at some point, I just decided I'd had enough of this. And when things got violent, I left. There is no point in being in a f**king violent rock band. That's nonsense. We've always had a different view of the band: I thought the most important part were the songs, and he thought the most important part was the chaos.”
But according to Liam, Noel is overly optimistic. A few days ago, he told Newsbeat:
"It's not over yet. There are a few things which need to be sorted out.”
The tumultuous relationship between the two brothers, which culminated in the disbanding of Oasis in 2009, took a turn for the worse over the last year, with a public mud-slinging match played out between the two via the UK tabloids. Then, Liam filed (and later dropped) a lawsuit against Noel for slander, stemming from a press conference where Noel claimed Liam had missed a 2009 V Festival performance because he was hungover.
Noel later apologised and admitted that Liam had a doctor’s note to prove his laryngitis. He told the BBC at the time: "I didn't want this to happen. It's not nice suing your family, but like I said, he was telling porkies for the sake of his mates and journalists to get a wise crack on me."
Meanwhile, the brothers are moving on with their own projects. Liam’s band Beady Eye, which is made up of the former members of Oasis, are currently writing their second album, while Noel’s solo album ‘High Flying Birds’ is rumoured to be due for release in October.
We’ll keep you posted.
