Stars Honour Adam
A-list fans of Beastie Boys’ legend Adam “MCA” Yauch have come together to pay tribute to the late star.
Rapper Eminem led a huge outpouring of touching messages to the 47-year-old, who died on Friday after a three-year long battle with cancer.
"Adam Yauch brought a lot of positivity into the world and I think it's obvious to anyone how big of an influence the Beastie Boys were on me and so many others," he told MTV News in a statement.
“They are trailblazers and pioneers and Adam will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, Mike D., and Ad-Rock.”
While hip hop star Nas, who teamed up with the group for the track ‘Too Many Rappers,’ added,
"One of my greatest moments in music was when I worked with the Beastie Boys.
“Now today I'm hearing our brother is gone. I prayed this would not happen. MCA was so cool, man. We had great talks about what it was like for them in the beginning, getting into the rap game.
“I'll never forget that experience for the rest of my life. MCA is a true legend who influenced me. God bless his soul and his loved ones."
Actor Jack Black, who made a cameo appearance in the MC’s
‘Fight For Your Right Revisited’ film in 2011, also paid his respects to the talented musician.
"Adam made amazing artwork until the very end and he was a genuinely sweet guy,” he said.
“He will be sorely missed."
And Queen of pop Madonna, who toured with the Beastie Boys in the 1980s, also honoured Yauch, hailing him as “one of a kind.”
"The Beastie Boys were one of a kind! And so was Adam!” she told MTV News in a statement.
“They were all an important part of my musical history. And integral to the musical revolution that was happening at the time.
"I'm very sad to hear about Adam's passing. God bless him and his family."
Meanwhile, Brit rockers Coldplay performed a tribute to the mega-star at their Hollywood Bowl concert in LA.
According to Sky News, the group, led by Chris Martin, belted out a soulful rendition of the Beastie Boys’ hit ‘Fight For Your Right,’ adding the line, “We’re sending all our love to the Beastie Boys.”
