Newsflash: Razor Sales Are Down Coz Gals Are Growing Their Pits Out
Before there was laser hair removal and unrealistic beauty standards, gals and guys were rocking bushy pits and nether regions like it was going out of fashion.
...But then going au naturel actually DID go out of fashion and suddenly we were all on mission impossible to become completely ~hair-free~ at all times.
Now, we're well and truly in the thick of 2017 and tbh being hairless is just too hard basket, and the stats don't lie!
A recent study conducted by retail analysts Mintel found that sales of women's razors and hair removal products have fallen by over $50M in 2016 to almost $990M.
They also found that 83% of people aged 16-24 agree there is too much pressure to remove or groom their body hair.
Body hair has made a comeback in recent years with help from famous faces like Miley Cyrus and Bella Thorne.
"There has been an increasingly relaxed attitude towards hair removal in recent years, both in the women's and men's market," said Jack Duckett of Mintel.
"Much of this can be attributed to fashion trends, as men and women embrace a more natural look, while moving away from the need to look immacuately presented."
Mintel also found that removing arm pit hair has also gone out of fashion with young women in particular. In 2014, 84% were shaving their pits compared to 77% in 2016.
If you're keen to bin the razor and let those armpit hairs be free, we salute you!
YOU DO YOU.
