WHAT! Apparently, We've All Been Washing Our Hair Wrong This Entire Time
When it comes to sticking to a hairwash routine, most of us think we've got the whole thing nailed: soap up, belt out a power ballad, and jump out before the water gets cold.
But news has now broken that we've been doing the whole thing backwards, which just goes to show product instructions are there to be ignored.
It turns out the most effective to wash your hair is to condition it BEFORE you put the shampoo on, which has honestly turned our world inside-out, upside-down, and round-and-round.
The theory is that the conditioner will cleanse and add nourishment to your hair - meaning that the shampoo will then spread more easily when you apply it next.
"Conditioning before you shampoo is great for adding nourishment to fine hair without weighing it down," Nina Dimachki, artistic director for hair brand Kérastase told Refinery29.
She continued: "It promotes a longer lasting blowdry and primes the hair before cleansing, allowing shampoo to distribute easier and more evenly."
It's also recommended that you apply the conditioner from root-to-tip of your hair before washing off, with Nina saying that highlighted, tangled, or greasy hair will benefit the most from this reverse tactic.
Talk about innovative.
