Belle Gibson's '60 Minutes' Interview Enraged The Internet For Many Reasons
Tara Brown's long-awaited '60 Minutes' interview with infamous wellness blogger and fake cancer survivor Belle Gibson came and went last night. Unsurprisingly, it blew up the Internet.
While those who tuned in to see Gibson renounce her claims and apologise to everyone she hurt - #sorrynotsorry, that didn't happen.
Instead Brown grilled Gibson over each fabrication including her age, the success of her 'The Whole Pantry' app and especially her diagnosis with terminal brain cancer.
Gibson detailed to Brown how a neurologist diagnosed her with a stage four brain tumour, giving her four months to live and prescribed her "oral chemotherapy."
Gibson refuted suggestions that her story was complete lies and that she was a "pathological liar", insisting, "I've not been intentionally untruthful. I've been completely open when speaking about what was my reality and what is my reality now. It doesn't match your normal or your reality."
"I'm not trying to get away with anything. I'm not trying to smooth over anything. It’s not easy for me to be here," she said. "Once I figured out where I stood and I'd received the definitive 'you don’t have cancer', it was traumatising."
The most downright awkward questioning was over Gibson's age. Gibson replied: "I've always been raised as being currently a 26-year-old...Well I live, knowing as I've always known, that I would be 26."
Brown wasn't having any of it, shutting down her rambles instantly, "Okay Belle, this is a really, really simple question: How old are you?"
But Gibson refused to give in saying, "It's probably a question that we'll have to keep digging for."
Unsurprisingly, the Internet responded negatively towards Gibson for the most part. Here are only a fraction of the Twitter responses:

@60Mins Disgusting if this is a paid interview. Belle Gibson is a thief & liar. She should be locked up for fraud, not put in the spotlight.

Investigations are still under way whether Gibson will be charged with fraud for her failure to donate her profits to charity and she may face jail time.
