Beyonce takes the stage for a show-stopping Super Bowl Halftime show!
The Mercedes-Benz Superdome fell into darkness only to be awakened by flashes of blue and red light as superstar Beyonce rose from the stage amidst a plume of smoke, to kick off her highly-anticipated Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show performance in New Orleans today!
Belting out the lyrics to the chorus of ‘Love on Top,’ the singer stunned the crowd with her flawless voice and killer body, which was clad in a black leather body-suit, black knee-high socks, sky-scraper heels and fingerless gloves, topped off by her signature mane of honey-coloured curls.
While there was no sign of hubby Jay-Z, Queen Bey kicked into the couple’s hit single ‘Crazy in Love’ surrounded by similarly dressed back-up dancers and a band complete with saxophones and trumpets.
‘End of Time’ was the next track in the medley, followed by ‘Baby Boy,’ which saw the star joined on stage by projected images of herself – looking like a bevvy of Beyonce body-doubles.
And that’s when the magic happened... The opening riff to ‘Bootilicious’ began and the rumours were proved correct, as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams burst up from below the stage to join their Destiny's Child band mate in their first stage performance since releasing their latest album!
In true D-Child fashion, the pair donned outfits to perfectly match Bey’s and shook their booties in unison like they’d never been apart.
The trio then kicked into ‘Independent Women’ as the edges of the circular stage lit up in flames.
As the beat for Beyonce’s solo smash ‘Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)’ blasted out across the stadium, the star turned to her band mates and said, “Kelly, Michelle, help me sing this!” and they were re-joined by the crew of backup dancers, before disappearing off stage to let Bey finish the track on her own.
“Everybody put your hands towards me, I wanna feel your energy,” Beyonce commanded the crowd as she took the tone down a notch launching into her finale number, ‘Halo.’
As the crowd held their cell phones high in the hair and waved their arms back and forth to the beat, Beyonce rounded up her show-stopping performance, keeping it classy with not a halftime show scandal in sight!
