Beyonce to sing national anthem at President Obama’s inauguration
She’s the talk of the town in the lead-up to her highly anticipated album release, and now Beyonce is set to make entertainment headlines once again on January 21 when she performs the national anthem at President Obama’s second inauguration!
Recently engaged Clarkson is said to be singing ‘My Country, ‘Tis of Thee,’ which Aretha Franklin sang at Obama’s first inauguration, while Taylor is set to perform ‘America the Beautiful.’
“Vice President [Joe] Biden and I are honoured to have these wonderfully talented musical artists perform at the Inaugural ceremony,” President Obama said in a statement.
“Their music is often at the heart of the American story and speaks to folks across the country.”
More announcements about further entertainment for the inauguration are still to be made, but if 2009’s list of performers such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey and Rihanna is anything to go by, there are sure to be plenty more big names in the bag!
