Chris Brown, Justin Bieber And Jersey Shore Stars Get Tweet Happy

From Jo Calderone and Britney Spears' awkward almost-kiss, to Russell Brand's touching personal tribute to Amy Winehouse, Chris Brown’s high flying performance to Beyonce’s SHOCK pregnancy announcement – the 2011 MTV VMAs served up OMG moments thick and fast, and the stars were tweet happy!

While it was Lady Gaga who dominated the twittersphere with her meat dress in 2010, this year, it was Beyonce who made headlines when she walked the carpet sporting a baby bump!

Chris Brown, who delivered a jaw-dropping performance mashing up Wu Tang and Nirvana, was one of the first to congratulate Jay-Z and Bey on their happy baby news, and also raised an interesting question:

“I wonder how many celebrities actually pass gas during the show and act like it's someone else!”

He followed up by giving a big shout out to his fans:

“Thx to all my fans who showed support tonight! Had a blast! Congrats to all the winners!!!! Be safe tonight! Love you!”

Twilight hottie Taylor Lautner was quick off the mark to say congrats to Brit:

“First on-air award goes to @BritneySpears! Congrats, Best Pop Video! She deserves it!!”

‘Jersey Shore’ star Pauly D was also quick to heap praise on his tourmate, saying:

“Woohoooo Yea @britneyspears !!!!!! Shouts To My Girl !!!!!”

And even though he’s a star in his own right, turns out the fist pumping celeb still gets star struck!

“Wowwww !!!!!!!! @kanyewest And Jay-Z Just Killed It @vmamtv2011 2 feet In Front Of Me My Life Is Complete!!!!”

He may have very little space left on his mantelpiece, but Justin Bieber, who took home the win for ‘U Smile’ over Eminem, Cee-Lo Green, Bruno Mars and Kanye West proved that no matter how many awards he nabs, he can still keep it real!

“Honestly i am a fan of all the @brunomars @eminem @ceelogreen and @kanyewest i share this one with u. #HONORED #wildnight”

“Not gonna lie...2nite i was surprised. im a fan of all those other artists. super #grateful and humbled. very cool night. kinda shocked.”

Despite swirling rumours of a possible break up, Jared Leto from 30 Seconds to Mars wasn’t sour grapes about their non-win. The group, who flew in from Ireland just for the show, were nominated for their latest very controversial video ‘Hurricane’ for Best Cinematography, Best Direction, and Best Editing. Jared tweeted:

Meanwhile, it seems like ‘Jersey Shore’s’ Vinny has a new crush!

“Hearing Adele sing in person is indescribable. #touched #vmas”

Before the event, Katy Perry was indecisive on what crazy getup she’d shock us with:

“Too many dress options! #vmagirlproblems!!!”

But the songstress, who won Best Collaboration and Best Special Effect for ‘E.T’ scored big points for her Geisha-inspired dress!

Then, it was time for Snooki to get her fan on!

“I can die happy now I met @ladygaga my inspiration ! Ughhhh @ladygaga opening omggggg I'm dying. Ah jayz and kanye ! Sick shit omg best night everrrr . AND I met beyonce! Amazingly beautiful”
