Katy Perry, Beyonce, Rihanna and more send prayers to victims of Oklahoma tornado
Celebrities have begun tweeting their thoughts and prayers in the wake of the massive tornado that swept across central Oklahoma on Monday, killing at least 90 people (according to latest reports).
Stars including Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry and ‘Jersey Shore’ alum Vinny Guadagnino have all offered their support for the victims of the epic tornado which lashed the town of Moore with around 320kmph winds for more than 40 minutes.
Beyonce took to Instagram to post a message reading, “Prayers for #Moore Oklahoma,” while her younger sister Solange wrote, “Oklahoma, you are in my thoughts.”
“So much going on in the world ... I'm saddened by the devastating news ... My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected #PrayForOklahoma,” tweeted Alicia Keys, with Rihanna posting: “Praying for Oklahoma” on her Instagram account.
Country songbird Carrie Underwood, who grew up in the rural Oklahoma town of Checotah, felt a particular connection to the events, tweeting: “Growing up in tornado alley, you always know what could happen.
“It doesn't change how devastating it is when something does happen ... I'm thinking about and praying for my beautiful home state and the people in it tonight,” she continued.
Katy Perry sent her prayers to the victims and also offered up information for those wanting to lend a hand, tweeting: “Sending out prayers for the people of Oklahoma tonight. Let's help, just text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate 10 dollars to those in need.”
While ‘Jersey Shore’s Vinny tweeted: “Wow. Terrible day. #PrayForOklahoma.”
Other celebs who have taken to their social networking accounts and shown their support include Khloe Kardashian Odom, Ellen DeGeneres, Neil Patrick Harris and Chris Brown.
