Conrad Sewell’s debut album marks the arrival of a major new talent, although the 27-year-old vocal powerhouse has already racked up some significant accomplishments. Most recently, Conrad wrote and sung the hook on Kygo’s global smash ‘Firestone,’ which already has over 100 million streams on Spotify and has become an iTunes top 10 single in Australia.
Born in Brisbane, Conrad started chasing his musical dreams at an early age, sending out his first demo at age eight. Conrad spent years recording songs in his garage and working to save money to move to the UK to launch his pop music career. At age 18 he made the move and maxed out his credit card recording his first UK based demo. The demo led to Conrad’s band at the time being signed by a European record label. The band had some success, but eventually fizzled out which is when Conrad renewed his interest in song writing.
Eventually, Conrad found his way to Los Angeles, where he connected with producer Jamie Hartman. They began refining his songs and recording them live in the studio. In the process, Conrad adopted a new approach to his craft and developed a renewed confidence in his performances.
Conrad is now working on his debut solo album with an all-star team of writers and producers, including Jamie Hartman (Christina Aguilera, Joss Stone), Sam Hollander (Train, One Direction), and Eric Rosse (Sara Bareilles, Gavin Degraw). ‘Hold Me Up,’ Conrad’s first single, was written and produced by Brian Lee (Lady Gaga, Icona Pop) and Louis Bell. The results draw from pop, dance, rock, even gospel, and display an impressive command of styles.
Conrad will be returning to Australia for his own headline tour this September.
