‘Glee’ and Katy Perry top contenders for ‘People's Choice Awards’
The nominations for the ‘2014 People’s Choice Awards’ have been announced, with ‘Glee’ and Katy Perry leading the way as top contenders.
With a total of eight nominations this year, ‘Glee’ is a firm favourite out of the TV shows, with nominations for Favourite Network TV Comedy and Favourite Comedic TV Actress/ Actor for cast members Lea Michele, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer and Darren Criss.
Katy Perry has taken out the top spot in the music category, with a total of five nominations including Favourite Music Video and Favourite Song for her recent hit ‘Roar.’ Perry is also nominated for Favourite Female Artist against music heavyweights Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, Pink, and Demi Lovato.
Other music nominees include One Direction, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, OneRepublic and Paramore for Favourite Band, and Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Blake Shelton, Robin Thicke and Michael Buble for Favourite Album.
In the movies section, Sandra Bullock is another hot contender scoring herself five nominations, including Favourite Movie Actress, Favourite Comedic Movie Actress and Favourite Dramatic Movie Actress.
While films ‘Despicable Me,’ ‘Fast & Furious 6,’ ‘Iron Man 3,’ ‘Monsters University’ and ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ are all in the running for Favourite Movie.
Executive producer for the awards, Mark Burnett, announced on Tuesday that ‘2 Broke Girls’ stars, Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, would be hosting the show.
"Kat and Beth are great additions to our People's Choice family and we are excited to have them host the show," he said.
"Their energy and charisma are a perfect fit for our audience."
The ‘People’s Choice Awards’ will take place on January 8 next year.
