Kitten’s Insider Guide to LA Shopping
One look at Chloe Chaidez, lead singer of the rock band Kitten, and you know this girl has serious style. She’s so rock star you’ll want to immediately go out and copy her outfit, yep - it’s that good. So obviously when we had a chance to ask her the one question on all of our style-obsessed minds, well, we did. Travel Co found out where Chloe stocks her closet in LA before heading out on the road.
Her first stop – “[Society of] St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in Downtown Los Angeles. I go there before almost every tour for my weird, various clothing needs. For instance, on our tour with Charli XCX, I had just dyed my hair grey and I wanted to wear all different shades of pink. St. Vincent de Paul was the perfect place for this because of all the funky Los Angeles grandmas that drop their old stuff off there. So good.” We totally agree. This place is so good, and it’s huge. Expect to find everything here from amazing vintage threads to last season designer pieces.
Her second, and a bit more surprising stop, Sport Chalet. “A lot of preparation for The Neighbourhood tour, believe it or not, was spent at Sport Chalet. I was on the search for the perfect pair of black slim fit Adidas "soccer" pants, Gwen Stefani style. Sport Chalet had what I needed.” We personally recommend the Sport Chalet in Burbank at the Burbank Town Center for its size and convenience. Whether you’re looking for the perfect Stefani piece or Miley-inspired jersey, here’s your mecca.
For all of the essentials, as well as non-essential essentials, CVS is the place. We particularly like the one on La Brea and 3rd Street – it’s fairly new and there’s never anyone in there, an all-around win. Chloe stocks up on the essentials at CVS – “For obvious reasons: shampoo, face wash, etc. But, my favorite thing about CVS is that there are all these hidden gems amongst the aisles like nail art (which I use as bindis), really ghetto fabulous jewelry (I have this huge ring that says QUEEN) and crazy fake nails (love me some of those).” We’re taking notes, girl!
If you run out of time in LA and still want some pieces that scream LA style, do what Chloe did and turn to the ‘net. “Ebay. For everything.” And “Once Youth. It's online, I know, but their stuff is to die for and a necessity for my onstage outfits. I'm always reppin' them.”
LA has everything to offer when it comes to shopping, but we think Chloe’s insider list of everything from where to get the most ghetto fabulous jewelry to amazing thrift finds is the only way to get that genuine LA rock star style.
