Chris Brown releases ‘X Files’ EP in the lead-up to his compilation ‘X’
Chris Brown released six new tracks through Soundcloud yesterday, declaring them to be the “songs that didn’t make the final cut for his heavily anticipated ‘X’ project.”
The ‘X Files’ EP starts off with the super-chilled song ‘War For You’ in which Chris sings: “I could be your man/ You can call me daddy when we’re f**king in the sand.”
“I’m ready to go to war for you/ I’mma be a warrior, I’mma make sure you’re safe with me,” he continues in the hook.
The second song ‘Waiting’ ups the tempo with lyrics about a girl that keeps playing him: “Baby, look what you do to me/ Girl I go crazy/ And you just got me waiting.”
‘Sweet Caroline’ is the third track on the release and is a collaboration with Busta Rhymes about a girl who is like a drug to him: “Feels like you shot me with a 38 or a 45/ And my heart’s bleeding baby/ Can’t feel my legs I’m paralysed.
“I know you just in it for the money/ So I’ll enjoy the ride,” he sings.
In the next song ‘Love 2 Remember’ Chris slows down the tempo again singing about a girl who thinks her man is cheating on her: “I’m tryna make peace babe/ These tears run down my face/ So I close my eyes, but we both cry/ And you say this is it baby baby.”
Ludacris makes an appearance on the fifth track titled ‘Fantasy 2,’ which is all about making a woman’s dreams come true between the sheets.
“You know I’d do anything girl/ I don’t wanna waste your time/ I’ll put my heart on the line for you,” Chris sings.
The last song is a collaboration between Kid Ink and Chris called ‘Main Chick,’ an upbeat song about being better than the man a woman is currently with. Chris sings: “Girl, I know you wanna be my main chick/ My main chick/ I say fuck whoever you came with/ Who you came with!”
“I don’t know your name, it’s a god damn shame/ I don’t know how to explain it to you/ But, girl I’m just saying if you got a man back home, I don’t know him/ What, just keep it on the hush” says Kid Ink.
The artwork for the EP features a cartoon Chris in a white straightjacket, arms folded in front of his stomach, with a giant black X behind him.
If ‘X Files’ is full of the songs that weren’t good enough for his final album we can only imagine how good ‘X’ is going to be. The release date for the album has not yet been announced but is slated for sometime in 2014.
