Sh*t: A Person Who Visited Sydney’s The Star Casino Now Has Coronavirus
It’s looking like NSW could soon be following the same path as Victoria after The Star revealed today that a recent patron at the casino has tested positive for the virus, reports news.com.au.
Today (Monday), the group lodged a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange, saying NSW health authorities had let them know a person who’d visited the casino on Saturday July 4 between 7:30pm and 10:30pm now had the virus.
The statement read: “The Star is working closely with NSW Health to respond to this information, including the conduct of contact tracing which includes staff members.”
Separately, another Sydney venue, the Canterbury League Club southwest of the city, confirmed someone who visited their venue (also on July 4, sometime between 11pm and 2am) had tested positive for coronavirus.
14 new cases of #COVID19 were diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 3,303.

The new cases come after NSW Police shut down several house parties in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs over the weekend, including one in Bondi with more than 100 attendees. Cops are also looking into a trial rugby match in Bellevue Hill on Saturday arvo, which saw guests crammed together on the sidelines. Last week, the Golden Sheaf in Double Bay copped a $5500 fine after it allowed 250 people to join the outside queue.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Sunday that she was disappointed to see people ignoring social distancing rules. "I get extremely concerned and upset when we see people flouting the rules that are in place because that will take us down the path of Victoria," Gladys said. "We are literally at a crossroads – the next month is absolutely critical. It is absolutely unacceptable for people to be breaching the rules at this stage.”
She warned: “Do not be surprised if the Government takes any further action in relation to large gatherings.” If anyone needs a reminder, we're absolutely not in the clear in NSW, and a second wave of coronavirus cases could happen – everyone should be on high alert and social distancing.
