10 Reasons we love EXIT Festival!
Earlier in the year, EXIT Festival scored the prestigious ‘Best Major European Festival’ award from the guys at Yourope (the European Festival Association) and it’s not hard to see why.
The Serbian city of Novi Sad definitely knows how to turn it on for one of the biggest and most popular festivals in the world and tomorrow EXIT will permeate festival-goers with deep dance beats once again.
As punters gear up for some seriously sore feet (and jaws) and an envious line up (Jamiroquai, Rudimental, Carl Cox, Afrojack, ) we’re back here, looking at what makes EXIT so damn good and dying of FOMO!
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Novi Sad is a picturesque northern town with stunning historical buildings, fortresses and a bustling café, restaurant and bar scene. It’s the perfect place to throw a hectic EDM festival in the mix and shake a normally sleepy town up.
This 17th Century Fortress is home turf for EXIT, providing a unique venue most festivals will never even come close to matching. Originally used in the Austrian-Turkish wars, this impressive stone fortress is now used to fight fatigue as EXIT partygoers fist pump well into the early hours of the morning.
PARTY TILL THE BREAK OF DAWN
For those looking to revel in the feeling of sunlight touching your sweaty head after a good 12-hour dancing sesh, the smaller stages at EXIT will accommodate that. Literally the music won’t stop until the sun comes up. Bang on!
HUGE ARRAY OF STAGES
This is not just your run-of-the-mill festival with one or two stages! Exit Festival has a massive 16 stages catering for all (and every) genre of music. From the headliners hitting the main stage, to the EDM favourites doing their thing at the Dance Arena or the biggest names from Serbia and aboard at the Fusion Stage! Life is definitely good at EXIT!
When three days aren’t enough, party go-ers can purchase an EXIT Adventure ticket which gives them eight days of pure EXIT fun! Not only do you go to the music festival itself, but you’re also allowed into the Rock @ EXIT Festival side show AND the Sea Dance Festival, which runs after the main event on the beautiful beaches of Bodva. Sun, sand and sick beats.
When in Rome hey?! (Well Serbia, but you get the drift!). If you’re lucky enough to go to the festival, then you will be lucky enough to try the locally produced spirit that is Raki! Along with that, organisers have also got a token system for purchasing drinks, so you don’t have to worry about dropping your loose change while you’re fist-pumping the night away!
THE ATMOSPHERE IS CRAY!
Firstly, because the festival is in a fortress the sound is cushioned from the walls and so you don’t lose the volume that you sometimes do at the bigger festivals so the atmosphere really is electric! Secondly, the layout of the fortress also means that the dance area is shaped like a huge bowl, so everyone can see the main stage. And there’s nothing better than dancing around with 40,000 of your closest mates at sunrise!
FOOD AND DRINKS ARE CHEAP
You’ve just forked out a couple of hundred dollars for your ticket, so there’s no doubt the cash flow afterwards is a little dry! One of the best things about being in Eastern Europe is that food and drinks are comparatively cheaper than other major festivals. So not only can you get boozed up but also line your stomach with some pretty delicious food for next to nothing. Win!
THE EXIT VILLAGE
Not only are you going to see the best bands and Djs in the world, but in your downtime between sets you can chill out in the EXIT Village which has a beach, pool, organised games, silent disco and entertainment quarter which includes bumper cars. There’s no time for sleep, so don’t even try!
SUN AND SOUNDS
EXIT is definitely the ultimate summer festival with temps sitting around the 30 degree Celsius mark during the day and only dropping a little for the night. Clothing is minimal, if not optional!
