Which Aussie producers are The Ashton Shuffle loving right now?
The Aston Shuffle boys have been in the Australian dance scene for 10 years and are still at the top of their game, but there are a few talented Djs moving up the ranks that they have their eyes on.
“There is such a wealth of up an coming Aussie dance producers at the moment, it blows us away!” They told MTV Australia in an exclusive interview. “There’s a whole contingent of dudes doing that Australian sound that everyone is talking about. it makes us step up our game in every way.”
“Basenji, Yahtzel, Sable, Kilter… that kind of beat-sy trap thing is really cool [and] has definitely blown up over the last couple of years.”
The Canberra locals also name Motez as someone “making waves” thanks to his house music sound, along with Dom Dolla from Melbourne and Touch Sensitive, who has “a very 80s disco vibe” about him.
It's a big feat for these producers who Mikah Freeman and Vance Musgrove see as “kicking massive goals.”
“It’s amazing to think how much music is coming out of Australia.”
Despite the slew of Aussie Djs across the dance music landscape, the boys from The Aston Shuffle don’t feel that there’s any jealousy brewing between them all.
“Creatively speaking there’s no sense of rivalry, there’s lots of camaraderie and we’re all very supportive of each other. The Aussie scene is pretty insular and tight like that.”
“Behind the scenes we’re all bitchy!” Musgrove jokes.
