Diddy named highest-earning hip-hop artist of 2013!
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has topped Forbes’ list of the highest-earning hip-hop stars of 2013!
The Bad Boy Records founder has beaten out his fellow music moguls Jay Z and Dr Dre. for the honour, with an estimated fortune of US$580 million – but according to Forbes, the bulk of the ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ star’s worth comes from his non-musical endeavours, namely his deal with Ciroc vodka.
“You started learning how to count right, I see,” Diddy told Forbes earlier this year, after three years ago disagreeing with the company’s methods during a rap on a Rick Ross song. “Thank God!”
Speaking of the idea of moving up the ranks to an even more prestigious list, the Forbes 400, Diddy added: “I don’t want my career to be defined on [whether or not] I was quote-unquote a billionaire. But to be honest, I’d be blessed to be a billionaire … hopefully someday it’ll come true and I’ll be able to do some good with it.”
Coming in at number two on the list, was Jay Z with an estimated net worth of US$475 million, which has been attributed to his involvement with brands such as Rocawear and Live Nation, and his stake in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
Beats by Dre founder, Dr. Dre, ranks third with US$350 million, while Nicki Minaj comes in at number four thanks to her income from touring, music sales, her ‘American Idol’ gig and endorsements with Pepsi.
Last week, it was announced that Beyonce and Jay Z had topped the list of Forbes’ highest-earning celebrity couples.
