Donald Trump Reckons He Was Supposed To Be TIME's Person Of The Year & Everyone's Calling Bullshit
Did you ever go to high school with a kid who relentlessly told you that he had a girlfriend, you'd ask him who and he'd say "Oh, you wouldn't know her. She goes to a different school"? That's basically what the President of the United States has done on Twitter this weekend.
Always one to give his horn a big ol' toot because literally no one else ever will, Donald Trump hopped on Twitter to blatantly lie about him passing on TIME Magazine's accolade 'Person of the Year.'
Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!

TIME Magazine have already retorted on Twitter, saying that Trump is 100% making this all up.
The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6.

Even TIME's former Editor, Richard Stengel, hopped on to call out Trump's BS.
Mr. President, just to clarify things, I wanted to offer a few statistics. Number of times you were Person of the Year during the 7 years I was editor of Time: 0. Number of times you were on the cover: 0. Number of times you made the Time 100 influentials list: 0. Thanks anyway!

And, of course, the rest of Twitter is having a field day with this A+ embarrassment.
Imagine being so fundamentally insecure that it would be a massive blow to your ego NOT to be Time Person of the Year. Donald Trump is a sign from the cosmos that insecurity can't be fixed by fame and money and power. But we have read the sign, now. He can go.

Congrats to Time’s Person of the Year: Everyone who has had to live through Donald Trump’s presidency so far

Donald Trump claims he turned down Person of the Year
Yes, and I turned down Shawn Mendes.

TBH, it's only a matter of time before he does something else equally as embarrassing but we'll soak in this glorious moment for now.
