Review: Dua Lipa At Newtown Social Club, Sydney
Playing to a packed house last at Newton Social Club on Wednesday night (July 13) Dua Lipa proved she is definitely one to watch.
Not only can she belt out a husky tune just like her Albanian home girl Rita Ora, but she drew in the crowd perfectly with her innocent come-hither look and sultry dance moves.
Backed by her band, she made the most of the intimate venue gathering the crowd to join in on her fun as she belted out a couple of her new songs ‘New Love’ and ‘Last Dance.'
Unlike most popstars – who quite often go for shots of tequila on stage – Dua Lipa, 20, preferred a cup of tea in between songs, but that had no effect on the crowd as she finished with her big hits ‘Hotter Than Hell’ and ‘I Can Be The One’ which got everyone pulling out their iPhones and dancing like crazy.
Having just a small track list, it was only a 45 minute set, she definitely left us wanting more with an album hopefully on it’s way for the girl that makes the ~dark pop~ genre her own.
