Eminem gives surprise performance at '2013 MTV EMA'
Eminem took to the stage at the '2013 MTV EMA' in full force, delivering an effortless and energetic surprise performance before being awarded with the honourable Global Icon Award.
Selling over 80 million records worldwide over the past decade, Eminem joins a list of music heavyweights including Whitney Houston, Bon Jovi and Queen who have all been presented with the prestigious gong.
“This is nuts. Thank you to everyone for everything over the years, man," he gushed. "MTV Europe, thank you!”
Breaking into the music scene in 1999, the rapper is the biggest selling artist of the last decade and is hailed as one of the most influential MCs in history.
Taking to the stage for the suprise performance, the rapper walked out of a massive boombox that was projected on the stage, before opening his set with new track ‘Berzerk,’ from his latest album, ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2.’
The crowd were lapping up every minute of it, with a sea of phones held up to capture the show. The set design was kept simple with no back-up dancers or props used, but Slim Shady certainly didn’t need it. He hypnotised onlookers with a breakdown of complex rhymes, beats, and, of course, his bad boy attitude.
The MC wrapped up his appearance with another song from his LP, ‘Rap God,’ however it wasn't just his stellar performance that got jaws dropping. When he was finally given his award at the end, 'Anchorman's Ron Burgundy asked: “Afro Jack is still talking shit about you, is there anything you want to say?”
Eminem smugly replied: “Who?”
