EXCLUSIVE! Pete Wentz lists Sia in his female artist top five!
Fall Out Boy are on the comeback trail after a four-year hiatus – and if talk of their upcoming release ‘Save Rock and Roll’ is anything to go by, we’re pretty sure this ‘reunion’ is just the start of incredible things to come from the Chicago rockers.
Having already enlisted Courtney Love and Elton John to appear on the album, there’s no denying the foursome are looking to make waves in the music world and reclaim their place at the top of the charts.
“Elton John is featuring on the album on the title track ‘Save Rock and Roll’ which will be the last song on the album, and to me it’s chill-inducing with what he did and the way the album closes,” bassist Pete Wentz dished to MTV Australia during our interview in Sydney last week.
“I think him and Patrick email on the regular and Patrick did the session with him. I think it was just crazy that it even happened,” he said of the collaboration with the rock ‘n roll legend.
But even though the band have been working with some of music’s biggest stars on this album, they’ve still got a place in their hearts for some of our very own home grown talent.
“I remember maybe two years ago when my friend from here played me Gotye and I was like ‘this is crazy’ and he was like ‘this is going to be huge!’ – and then obviously it was,” said Wentz of the Grammy-winning Aussie.
“My friends are this production team called Twice As Nice, I think they’re from Melbourne, but we hang out all the time and they play me Australian artists pretty much on the regular.”
“Sia’s one of our dear friends, she’s Australian,” continued Pete.
“I think she probably has one of the most iconic modern voices, in terms of both melody and ideas. She’s probably [one of the] top five female singers for me,” he gushed.
Fall Out Boy’s fifth studio album ‘Save Rock and Roll’ will be released in Australia on April 12.
