Flume talks new music, next album and plans for What So Not
In an exclusive interview with MTV Australia, Flume has shared a few details about his upcoming album, what fans can expect to hear on his new releases as well as his plans for side project What So Not.
Discussing what’s in store for 2014, Flume – real name Harley Streten – revealed that fans can look forward to some new material as well as his as-yet-titled second studio album.
“Basically, this year is about writing another album and not f*cking it up,” he told MTV backstage at the New Year’s Day festival. “I’ve been really into live strings and orchestras and stuff.
"I think I’m going to get an orchestra to do some stuff and mix that in with electronic stuff.
“I’ve got one song done, so it’s a start. But it doesn’t have a name yet.”
Going on to speak of his side project with Sydney producer Emoh Instead – the 22-year-old ARIA award-winning artist revealed that 2014 will also be “the year for What So Not.”
“I haven’t been able to play as many sets as I would have liked to because the Flume thing is obviously really hectic, but I feel like this New Year is going to be of What So Not.
“Flume is going to go into hiding a little bit, not totally, just a little bit in Australia.”
