Gotye and Kimbra win at the Grammys!
The duo took home the trophy in the non-televised pre-show, beating out Florence and the Machine, fun., LMFAO and Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa.
“I obviously have one major person to thank and that is Gotye, Wally De Backer, for having me be part of this incredible song and this incredible journey,” Kimbra said in her acceptance speech, reports The Australian.
Gotye, aka Wally De Backer, also nabbed the award for Best Alternative Album for his record ‘Making Mirrors.’
“I recorded it mostly in a barn on my dad's block of land southeast of Melbourne, Australia, so I have to thank Dad and my Mum for setting up a lot of weird equipment in a barn near their house,” revealed the singer.
Other nominees in the category included Fiona Apple, Tom Waits, Bjork and M83.
Gotye is also up for Record of the Year, set to be announced at the main televised event.
