Gotye wins Record of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards!
It was the song that truly took the world by storm, and today, Aussie music star Gotye is reaping the rewards of his hit single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ – taking home three Grammy Awards including Record of the Year!
Presented by iconic artist Prince, Gotye and singer Kimbra took out the category of Record of the Year ahead of The Black Keys, Kelly Clarkson, fun. featuring Janelle Monae, Frank Ocean and Taylor Swift.
“I’m a little bit lost for words!” revealed Gotye, aka Wally De Backer, as he and Kimbra hit the stage.
“I’ve spent many years listening to this man’s music and he’s a big reason why I was inspired to get into music,” Gotye said of presenter Prince.
“I feel unworthy to be up here receiving this, but thank you.”
Earlier in the night, the duo won the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Gotye also took out the Best Alternative Album category for his record ‘Making Mirrors.’
The Grammy wins cap off a hugely successful 12 months for the pair – and hopefully their smash hit duet won’t be the last time we see them team up!
“I would love to collaborate with Kimbra again,” Gotye told us when we caught up with him at the end of last year.
“We’ve both been so busy with our respective album releases … but yeah, once we’re both a little bit quieter I hope we can actually write some songs together.”
Congratulations once again to Gotye and Kimbra!
