Review: Kimbra At Splendour In The Grass 2012
New Zealander Kimbra hit the Mix Up stage last night bringing a poppy hit to day one of 'Splendour in the Grass 2012' in Belongil Field, Byron Bay, Australia.
Some festival goers may have only attended Kimbra's set knowing her hit collab 'Somebody that I used to know' with Gotye, but those who stuck around to see what she had to offer left with a whole new appreciation.
The Kiwi songstress brought high energy showing her natural ability as a front woman banging her head and thrashing her red tambourine.
Wearing a silver umbrella skirt and purple top, Kimbra landed in the Mix Up tent under a night sky themed rooftop complete with starry lights twinkling alongside four super sized disco balls.
The atmosphere continued to grow as giant fish swam either side of the stage and the audience began to get the feeling they were in an under water aquarium.
With the crowd hanging on the end of every high shriek, Kimbra delivered her mesmerising solo work from her album 'Vows' to adoring fans.
Wrapping up the Mix Up tent for day one, fans quickly hurried to catch the end of Jack White's set.
