I Am Bitterly Disappointed Kylie Jenner Wasn't Nominated For A Grammy Award But I Think I Know Why
Today the Grammy Award nominations were announced and it was the first thing I searched when I woke up this morning right after I showered, caught the bus to work, checked emails, sent some memes to the group DM, drank a glass of water, grabbed a coffee and had some toast with only a teeny tiny bit of Vegemite on it because anymore is, quite frankly, DISGUSTANG.
Among the nominees I was delighted to see the likes of Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Billie Eilish, H.E.R and plenty more outstanding artists. But enough with the niceties because I've got some questions about the snubs that came through. Many on the Internet were left fumin' after Taylor Swift, BTS and Halsey didn't receive the nominations they were expecting.
And there was one name in particular that was missing from the list that has me scratching my head. Where is Kylie Jenner's nom for song of the year for 'Rise & Shine'??? Earlier this year she became world-renowned for her singing abilities when her YouTube office tour video went viral after she was featured singing to her daughter, Stormi. It was inspiring!!! Beautiful!!!! The voice of a generation!!! You fave could never!!!
It was the only thing anyone said to each other for weeks. Literally. It became the official phrase of 2019. Even fricken Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande recorded their own interpretations of the classic hit.
It would seem that I'm not the only one who is a bit miffed our first lady of cosmetics wasn't bestowed the nomination. Look what my friends on the internet said:
What the fuck are these Grammy nominations?? Kylie Jenner’s “Rise and Shine” is way more impactful and yOU KNOW IT

Could not agree more, complete strangers. She just sold part of her cosmetics company for AU$880 million, she really needs this confidence boost right now!!!!
So why the hell didn't the 22-year-old get nominated?
Well it's pretty simple really: she's not eligible.
Firstly, the cut-off date ends on August 31st, so considering Kylie's video went viral in October, she is well out of contention.
Furthermore to be eligible the track must be an official release and not a snippet of audio from a YouTube video that has been meme'd to hell and back. Ok, fair enough.
So, in short, Kylie was never ever going to be nominated.
I am disappointed, and angry. Now, don't even get me started on Peppa Pig.
