ATTN: Potterheads - Daniel Radcliffe, David Beckham & More Are Bringing Back ‘Harry Potter’
Calling all wizards and witches: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is back in session.
In news that is almost as exciting as learning about Rupert Grint's baby, J.K. Rowling has given us the ultimate iso-treat: a reading of “Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone” by gathering some of the smoothest voices in Hollywood to read chapters from her infamous book series.

In our hour of need, this is what the world needs.
Daniel Radcliffe kicked things off with a reading of Chapter One, “The Boy Who Lived,” when a baby Pot’s is left on the doorstep of his aunt and uncle. In his not-so-little-anymore British accent, Radcliffe read the famous opening lines live from his couch: “Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much”. Aaand we’re already melting.
You can watch the full thing here. Prepare to be magically transported back to the school days.
But, if possible, it gets BETTER.
Celebrities like Dakota Fanning and David Beckham (we KNOW) will be joining the big ol’ fashioned reading circle, narrating the remaining 16 chapters of the iconic first novel, which will be released weekly on Spotify and the Harry Potter at Home website.
In a teaser video, David Beckham sits by a fire all “warm and cosy” at Casa Beckham ready to read you Harry Potter - and oh, boy are we ready to listen. Is that a wand in your pocket or are you just excited to see Becks reading you sweet nothings?
Other cast members from the Harry Potter franchises - including Fantastic Beasts - will also narrate, including handsome thespian Eddie Redmayne, Stephen Fry, Claudia Kim and Noma Dumezweni. More “surprise readers” will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Harry Potter at Home website was launched by, Wizarding World Digital and Rowling, as a response to the Coronavirus pandemic to help children and parents currently in lockdown. The initiative is free and offers all things Harry Potter including quizzes, puzzles, a fan club and more (yep, AKA Harry heaven).
“Parents, teachers and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we’re on lockdown might need a bit of magic,” Rowling said last month. “So I’m delighted to launch Harry Potter at Home.”
She’s right. This is EXACTLY the kind of magic we need right now.
So get your Nimbus 3000 ready, we’re going back to Hogwarts - and David Beckahm is coming, too.
