From Today Instagram Has Removed 'Likes' & 'Video View' Counts From Your Posts
Ever posted something on Insta, it totally flops and then deep anxiety sets in? It's a shameful reality but it happens to the best of us.
After growing concerns over the mental health affects that comes from social media gratification, Instagram are trialling a new function.
From today, the platform is testing removing 'likes' and 'video view' counts from accounts across a number of different countries including Australia and New Zealand.
We’re currently running a test that hides the total number of likes and video views for some people in the following countries:

If you've jumped on your feed at all today you would notice the figure has been removed and simply shows one of your followers handle and 'others'. Whilst others can't see the number you will still be able to tap on the 'liker' list and see the numbers however you won't be able to do the same on posts your follow.
“We hope this test will remove the pressure of how many likes a post will receive, so you can focus on sharing the things you love," said Director of Policy for Facebook Australia & New Zealand, Mia Garlick. "We are now rolling the test out to Australia so we can learn more about how this can benefit people's experiences on Instagram, and whether this change can help people focus less on likes and more on telling their story.”
We think this is definitely a move in the right direction in making social media a more positive space - we just wonder how the influencers are going to take this?
