INXS Fire JD!
JD Fortune needs a new moniker, after reports say he’s been fired from INXS - for a second time!
After a fall out two years ago, JD had re-built bridges with the band that made him famous, and was even invited to take part in INXS’ recent self tribute release ‘Original Sin.’
But yesterday, it became obvious that the vintage hit-makers were no longer in the market for JD’s talents when a new song, 'Tiny Summer,' appeared on their official website - with a mystery vocalist at the helm.
Fortune wrote on his twitter last month "As of now I have not been invited to be a part of INXS's new music."
Back in 2005, the rocker fought tooth and nail against thousands of hopefuls on reality TV show ‘Rock Star: INXS’ to claim the lead spot in the Aussie band, once fronted by Michael Hutchence.
Then, shortly after polishing off a world wide tour in 2009, JD sensationally blabbed to the media that not only was he homeless and broke but he’d been unceremoniously sacked by INXS at a Hong Kong airport with little more than a handshake and a "thank you very much".
At the time, INXS’ creative director Chris Murphy struck out at the claims saying:
"Not only are we shocked by the claims, even the place the supposed incident was to have taken place is a mystery to the band. The band has always stated to me that Fortune's services could potentially be contracted again when INXS next tour.”
The band evidently put the bad blood aside and Fortune began playing with the rockers in 2010 – but now, it seems like INXS have dumped him once again.
And while INXS is expected to release a statement next week in regards to the new frontman, according to the Herald Sun, speculation is rife as to who will join them on stage for their final gig of 2011 at the Perth Sailing World Championships.
A message on their website www.inxs.com from Tim, Andrew, Jon, Kirk and Garry reads: “All we would like to say about recent events is that we are excited about our future and the variety of music we will produce.”
Over the last decade, Jon Stevens, Terence Trent D’Arby and Jimmy Barnes have all lent vocals, while their recently recorded self-tribute album featuring Ben Harper, John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Dan Sultan, and Nikka Costa.
All will be revealed soon!
