Travel Between NZ & Aus Could Be On The Cards Soon As Queen Jacinda Ardern & ScoMo Talk COVID-19 Strategy Tomorrow
Our national cabinet’s about to get some of the best advice it’s ever gotten (in our humble opinion) when queen Jacinda Ardern joins its meeting tomorrow (Tuesday).
The NZ PM was invited by ScoMo to attend one of two meetings the national cabinet is having this week to chat all things managing coronavirus and our CovidSafe app, reports The Guardian.
In a presser on Friday, ScoMo hinted that the national cabinet's meetings would see govt officials discussing the easing up on the country's lockdown restrictions, put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19. An announcement is expected to be made this Friday after the second meeting.
NZ, if you remember, had put in place a far stricter and swifter lockdown than ours with no non-essential shopping, takeaways or exercise with anyone outside your household allowed.
Yesterday (Monday), the country reported no new cases of the virus for the first time in a month.
With case numbers in Aus and NZ both relatively low compared to other countries, there’s been talk about relaxing travel restrictions between the two countries too.
“If there’s any country in the world with whom we can reconnect with first, undoubtedly that’s New Zealand,” Morrison said in a presser on Thursday via The Guardian.
“We have similar trajectories. Their restrictions have been far greater. Our [coronavirus] case response has been the same, if not better, than New Zealand.”

Which means if all goes to plan, Jacinda's visit could just mean a ski holiday in Queenstown is on the cards this winter. See you there.
