The Sunny Coast Is Getting A Drive-In Music Festival Feat Your Fave Aussie Artists So Get Ya Tickets Quick
How is one Aussie festival organiser getting around the fact that large events are still a no-go due to the major threats coronavirus, topped with the added challenge, no international artists are allowed in with the borders still firmly shut? Well, they’re holding a drive-in music festival featuring Aussie artists only. Cool, huh?
Called AIRWAVES, it'll take place over three days for groups in cars only. Punters will pull into a lot, tune in from their radio and then sit back and relax. On the line-up are The Chats, The Dreggs, The Pierce Brothers, Bugs and Sahara Beck (full list below). Each day's tickets are sold separately, and the cheapest tickets go for just over $200.
AIRWAVES has been in the works for months after its Event Director, Cindy Jensen, read a story that festivals may only resume in two summer’s time.
"Reading it set off a rocket-launch fire inside me and I wanted to bring some confidence back into an industry that has been so hard hit and affected,” Jensen told Scenestr. "I miss travelling and the freedom it brings and the spacesuit represents the feeling COVID-19 confinement has had on me personally," Jensen says.
AIRWAVES is on at the Nambour Showgrounds in the Sunshine Coast on Friday 10 July, Saturday 11 July and Sunday 12 July. Tickets are for sale now at Oztix. Cars are limited to 275 a day.
The full AIRWAVES 2020 line-up includes:
Friday 10 July: The Dreggs, Sahara Beck, Toxic Fox
Saturday 11 July: The Chats, Bugs, Being Jane Lane
Sunday 12 July: Pierce Brothers, OKA, Salt & Steel
