YUS QUEEN: Miss America Will No Longer Judge Contestants On Their Appearance
ABOUT FRIGGEN TIME.
Miss America has finally joined the 21st Century after the organisation made a huge announcement regarding the way they will judge contestants.
"We're not going to judge you on your appearance because we are interested in what makes you you," said the head of the Miss America Organisation's board of trustees, Gretchen Carlson.
That means they're officially scrapping the swimsuit section of the competition in a bid to focus more on the contestants talents, achievements and goals.

This major change will be a welcome one given the years of backlash over the sexist and outdated practices of the competition.

And given the current #metoo climate, this will be a clear message to younger generations of women.
"We're living in a different era now, and when we move forward for the empowerment of women, we will be taken much more seriously, and I think that's huge," said Carlson.
Well we think this calls for a 'Miss Congeniality' reboot, don't ya think?
