Will & Jada Pinkett Smith Straight Up Held An ‘Intervention’ When Their Son Jaden Went Vegan
It’s not news to anyone that veganism – and vegans even more so – get a bad rap.
So, we wanna preface this with a few facts. While studies show that cutting all animal products from your diet can have ramifactions, as long as you’re making sure you’re getting proper nutrients through plant-based substitutes, experts say that veganism is a healthy lifestyle choice for those that fancy it. Research on the long-term health effects of veganism is still ongoing.
The Smiths recently opened up about their own experiences with their diets on Jada’s Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk, and what happened when Jaden went vegan without subbing in nutritious alternatives for the animal products he used to have.
“Will and I had a bit of an intervention with Jaden because he’s a vegan now, but we realized he wasn’t getting enough protein. So he was wasting away. He just looked drained, he was just depleted, he wasn’t getting the nutrients,” Jada said.
Will added, “He had dark circles under his eyes. There was even a little grayness to his skin. We got really nervous. But you’re definitely looking better now.”
Jaden has since gone back to being vegetarian and is eating more meals throughout the day too.
The family wasn’t directly calling out veganism but taken out of context, these comments could definitely ruffle a few feathers.
