James Charles Breaks His Silence To Announce YouTube Series Return, But Keeps Quiet On Tati's Allegations
It’s been a hectic few weeks in the world of beauty YouTubers, but throughout it all, one member of the community has remained noticeably quiet: James Charles. (Also Jeffree Star, but that's a whole 'nother story.) After doing some digging, we think we might know why.
If you, like us, were left reeling from all the recent controversy, you would’ve missed that a couple weeks ago (June 25, to be exact), the 21-year-old’s YouTube beauty comp reality show, Instant Influencer, was renewed for a second season.
“Launched in April and hugely successful, we are excited to announce the breakout hit will be back for season 2 soon,” a YouTube announcement video said at the time.
James tweeted: “Soooo @YouTube made the announcement this morning but I thought I’d make it official too…#InstantInfluencer got picked up for SEASON TWO!! If y’all thought season ONE was good… just wait.”

Another plot twist: James announced that he wouldn't be uploading his regular video to YouTube this week (the YouTuber usually posts fresh content weekly), perhaps to avoid speaking on these recent events?
The second season of Instant Influencer could explain why James is staying out of all the drama: YouTube wanted to distance itself from the Tati Westbrook/Jeffree Star/Shane Dawson/James Charles spat, as well as the years-old disturbing content of Shane that showed him in blackface and sexualising a young Willow Smith.
Morning Sisters! ☀️ There won’t be a new video today. Thank you for allowing me to take some time this week, the love and support you are sending has been helping more than you know. ❤️

The platform has already suspended ads on all three of Shane’s channels and taken down four of his episodes claiming "copyright infringement" from Sony. It also, according to Tati's statement in her new video, asked Tati to remove her original 'Bye Sister' video, because it supposedly wasn't a good look for the platform. With that in mind, it makes sense they wouldn't want their top star getting more involved in it all by weighing in; hence the radio silence.
