"My grandma had to cremated after she died from Covid. This seems like bad timing for such a product," wrote another.
Um wtf people are being CREMATED because the mortuaries have run out of space. Bad timing. This could have waited until thousands aren't dying daily.smfh.

hmmmmmm...Jeffree Star makes new eye shadow palette calls it cremated...even the creator of Black Mirror suspended season 6 due to the pandemic impact.
probably not the greatest time for a death inspired branding, thoughts? https://t.co/7LXQgJEa37

Jeffree Star’s new palette being named “Cremated” during a mass pandemic seems like a very weird branding choice to me tbh pic.twitter.com/CGWLWXZg8C

Star did register the product’s name last year, long before the pandemic began, and is known among fans for using hyperbolic phrases all the time.
In yesterday's YouTube video, Star said: "Cremated is like my iconic catchphrase, I'm deceased. Cremated, as well as being, of course, very dark and gothic, it is also a term that I like to use, you know when you're really blown away by something, you’re mesmerized and it’s so sickening? Me and my friends like to say, bitch, I'm cremated."
He also said the palette “supposed to come out in April but the coronavirus has had the whole entire beauty industry, of course, as well as the entire planet shook and a lot of brands and a lot of us companies have had to move things back."
"We were supposed to have a very gothic and dark spring but of course things did not go according to plan, but that’s okay," he said.
Regardless of the intention, to many people releasing a palette called 'cremated' feels inappropriate and distasteful, given many all around the world are contracting and dying from coronavirus.
We'll let you know if Jeffree Star has anything to say about the backlash.
