Jimmy Kimmel Says He Was The Oscar's 15th Choice As Host, Slips Surprising Salary
The Academy Awards is film's night of nights - no expense is spared from five-star fine dining to millions of dollars in ensembles strutting the red carpet.
We mean, each nominee gets gifted and INSANE bag of goodies:
The 2016 Oscar Nominee Gift Bag Is OFF. THE. CHAIN.
So it comes as a massive fkn surprise when newly appointed Jimmy Kimmel reveals not only was he the Oscars' 15th choice to be host, he also receives $15,000 for the gig.
Now to us, $15,000 is absolutely nothing to sneeze at, but we thought FOR SURE the host of arguably the biggest awards ceremony would rake in double, if not, triple that.
“I’m not sure I was supposed to reveal this. But nobody told me not to. I consider this their fault,” Jimmy said on KROQ’s “Kevin & Bean”.
“They asked like 14 people and they all said no and then there was me,” Jimmy added. “I absolutely was surprised…The producers and the Academy went through a long list of names, and in the end, they decided that — since I am already right across the street from where they do the show — I was the closest person to host.”
The Oscars will air in the southern hemisphere on February 28, 2017.
