Kanye West commissions “special gift” portrait of Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian will forever be immortalised on canvas after fiancé Kanye West commissioned Andy Warhol’s niece, Monica Warhol, to paint a portrait of the reality TV star.
The painting is similar to the traditional style of the famous artist with a close-up of Kim’s face in yellow and pink pop art.
Monica created the final piece by originally hand drawing the image in pencil, then using Photoshop to touch it up before printing it off, burning it onto silk and painting on some final touches.
“It’s a special gift. I am picking up where Andy left off, and Kim is the perfect addition to the Warhol legacy. There is no way Andy Warhol would not have painted her,” Monica told In Touch magazine.
“Kim is manufactured gorgeous and is beyond fabulous. How could Andy not have been inspired to paint her like he did Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor?” she added.
On Tuesday, Monica took to Twitter to talk about the commission, saying: “Kim is all over me, covered in paint, if only I cleaned up as well as this beauty.”
