Ironically Karlie Kloss doesn’t think social media is good for the fashion industry
We wonder if Karlie Kloss has heard of the saying “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you?"
The reason we ask is because ironically the model has made some very interesting statements about there being a downside to social media in the fashion industry.
And with 2.1 million Instagram followers we have to ask if she would be rewarded the same professional opportunities as say a model who doesn’t buy in to the self-promoting tool that is Instagram and other social platforms?
The 22-year-old model voiced her opinions at SXSW festival on Saturday during a talk called ‘How Technology Colonised Fashion Week’.
"I do think there is something special that has been lost a little bit—that is, simply being present, without the distraction of being the first one to immediately tweet what the nail color is backstage at Calvin Klein, as opposed to just being there in the moment. I think that's the case, not just for me as a model, but the audience. All the editors are taking pictures and sharing that. There's good and bad to it,” she said.

But despite all the “bad” yes there is good too and she’s happy to admit that a social status can get you places.
"I walked in the Balmain show for Olivier Rousteing. If you rounded up all the numbers of the majority of his line-up, there would be upwards of 10, 15 million followers,” she said.
