Here’s Why Gigi Hadid & Katy Perry Were Cut From The Victoria’s Secret Show
This Victoria's Secret Fashion Show took place last night in Shanghai, China. The biggest lingerie show in the world saw many familiar faces hitting the runway, however two big names were dropped from the shows lineup days before.
Hadid was labeled as 'racist' by the Chinese media after a video of her was uploaded to her sister’s Instagram story. The video captures the VS supermodel narrowing her eyes in attempt to imitate the look of the buddha-esque cookie. People all around the world were not happy with Hadid, especially China.

Hadid hit her Weibo account (Chinese version of Twitter) to apologise saying, "It hurts me to hurt anyone, I want you all to know that it was never my intent to offend anyone through my actions and I sincerely apologise to those who were hurt or felt let down by me.
I have the utmost respect and love for the people of China and cherish the incredible memories I have made while visiting in the past."
Gigi Hadid's Style Evolution
Despite the apology it seems like the Chinese people may not forgive and forget. The Sports Illustrated model Tweeted out that she wouldn't be strutting her stuff down the runway this year to many fans dismay.
I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year. Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can't wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can't wait for next year! :) x

As for Swish Swish singer Katy Perry she has not had the best track record with China either. According to the New York Post, Katy was denied access into the country because she wore a sunflower dress at a concert in Taiwan two years ago.
Katycats, lets change our profile pics to this.Hope China will ban us all.Oh,I have a some sunflowers growing in my garden, hope I didn't do anything oppressive🙄🙄#victoriassecretfashionshow #KatyPerry #WeLoveKatyPerry pic.twitter.com/mBv3QxlNjI

A little OTT right? Well apparently the sunflower is an anti-China symbol in Taiwan after the Sunflower Movement in 2014. The movement was against trade deals with China and people were encouraged to buy sunflowers to show their support.
So coincidence or not, the Chinese government still doesn’t seem too impressed with Katy Perry.
The Style Evolution Of Katy Perry
The Chinese Governement has not confirmed why the two weren't allowed to go, however these negative issues with China saw many people unhappy about them entering the country.
This adds Hadid and Perry to the list of other celebs who were denied access or got backlash from China like Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, bon Jovi and Lady Gaga.
