The protest that Lili Reinhart will be attending is one of many happening all across the world in response to the brutal murder of George Floyd last week. George Floyd, an African American man, was killed by white police officer, Derek Chauvin, who stood on his neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds. The murder was caught on film, where Floyd repeatedly told officers, “I can’t breathe”. Three other police officers stood by and watched. Derek Chauvin has since been charged with second-degree murder, and the other officers involved in Floyd’s arrest have been charged with abetting second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
George Floyd was 46 years old. He was known to friends as "Big Floyd", who described him in reports as a "gentle giant".
June is Pride Month, and many scheduled Pride events have either been put on hold or changed to protests in support of the Black Lives Matter movement in the US.
