Lindsay Lohan Playing With The Big Boys
Ne-Yo - the man with the biggest bottom lip in the world, and arguably the most successful and sought after song-writer today - has penned monstrous hits for the biggest names in the biz Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Rihanna, and Mario. Ne-Yo works with many stars, but also turns down a lot of them. So, the fact he worked with Lindsay Lohan is a big deal.
Wha? Come again? Well, while everyone else has been busy gossiping about the mischief Miss LiLo's gets into, she's been head-down bum-up in the studio working on her third album. And it's hit-maker Ne-Yo that's just scribed the leading single Bossy.
Says he, "I gotta admit, we were like Lindsay Lohan? But I will say this. We gave her a quality record and she did a ridiculously fabulous job. I was so shocked I had to call her and apologize for what I was thinking because she did so good. I think the world is gonna be surprised."
"[The lead track ''Bossy'' is] basically about a woman being strong enough to get what she wants when she wants it. In this case, 'Bossy' is a term that describes confidence and power."
"I wrote it for her because when she's on her game, you can see these traits in her. When she's focused, she exudes the aura of a boss with ease," Ne-Yo told People magazine.
"When [producer] Stargate and I were approached with the task, we viewed it as a challenge. 'Can we make a song for Lindsay Lohan that people were gonna take seriously?' I think we did it."
But word from the other side of the tracks is that sometimes skank-meister Lindsay was not overly co-operative in scheduling for her latest album. In a move that appears suspiciously like Britney Spears pre-rehab behaviour (you might remember that Ne-Yo had agreed to write for Brit's album then she stood him up twice) a snitch revealed that Linds rejected some of the initial tracks that Ne-Yo wrote for her and even cancelled planned meetings with Timbaland.
But despite all the hatin' it seems that Universal Motown execs still are hoping to release Lindsay's new CD in 2008. And she may just have the recipe to make a tasty little morsel of an album. Her recent shift to the Motown record label alone has added some credibility to her third major label outing.
Reportedly, some other pretty impressive names are set to collaborate, including Snoop Dogg and Pharrell they're getting paid the big bucks to help ensure the Mean Girls actress pulls off a major hit or two. We could ask the question of whether the girl is sleeping with someone to pull deals like this, but the answer would be pretty obvious.
