THIS IS NOT A DRILL- A New Middle-Earth Story From J.R.R. Tolkien Is On Its Way!
According to Tolkien Society, the upcoming compilation of Tolkien’s tales of 'Beren and Lúthien' will be edited by Christopher Tolkien and illustrated by Alan Lee.
The tale is set to bring together material scattered throughout the 12-volume History of the Middle-earth series.
The soon-to-be released book follows the story of the perilous romance between a man and an elf.

We can't believe this is real.
In a press release, Christopher explained that at the heart of the story “is the fate that shadowed the love of Beren and Lúthien: for Beren was a mortal man, but Lúthien was immortal.
“Her father, a great Elvish lord, in deep opposition to Beren, imposed on him an impossible task that he must perform before he might wed Lúthien. This is the kernel of the legend; and it leads to the supremely heroic attempt of Beren and Lúthien together to rob the greatest of all evil beings, Melkor, called Morgoth, the Black Enemy, of a Silmaril.”
The Wall Street Journal reports the latest tale follows the release of “The Story of Kullervo,” an unfinished story discovered by Tolkien scholar Verlyn Flieger. That book was published in the U.S. last April.
J.R.R. Tolkien’s Beren and Lúthien will be published on 4 May 2017, a century after Tolkien wrote the love story for his wife, Edith.
