Listen Up, Nerds: 'Lord Of The Rings' Is Reportedly Becoming A TV Show So Take Work Off Now
Because Hollywood really, really can't just let things rest in peace, it looks like everyone's favourite cinematic masterpiece trilogy, The Lord Of The Rings, is reportedly becoming a TV show.
Apparently, according to Variety, Amazon studios have been looking for a way to try and replicate the success that Game Of Thrones brought HBO and the way to do that is televising the journey of everyone's favourite Hobbit. Let it be known, fam: before there was Jon and Sam, there was Frodo and Sam.
This is only in the very early stages, but it seems that Amazon are making this a high priority, already talking to Warner Bros. Studios and the late J.R.R. Tolkien's estate. We can't even begin to imagine just how much this franchise is worth, but we're sure it's too many numbers for us to count.
LOTR seems like the most logical franchise to target if we're talking about Game Of Thrones-level success. The two often draw comparisons - except the former is based on a book series that's actually finished and has far, far less sex and violence.
For now, at least. It's 2017 - guess we can't rule out some freaky Frodo and Samwise action just yet, can we?
