Lorde hits number one on Billboard Hot 100!
It was only a couple of weeks ago that Lorde felt the wrath of Miley Cyrus fans when ‘Royals’ knocked the singer off the top spot in the US iTunes chart, and now she’s gone and done one better – nabbing the number one position on Billboard’s Hot 100 – the spot ‘Wrecking Ball’ has claimed for two weeks.
Upon learning of the incredible achievement, the 16-year-old Kiwi star told Billboard: "It feels like a combination of my birthday, Christmas and washing my hair after a month of not doing so.
"[I'm] very, very grateful for everyone's love and kind words."

Lorde is the youngest solo artist since Tiffany to sit at the top of the Hot 100, with the ‘80s icon having hit number one at just 16 years and one month old with ‘I Think We’re Alone Now,’ back in 1987.
The New Zealander is also the first woman to take a debut Hot 100 hit to number one since Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’ lead for nine weeks last year.
Billboard also reports that the singer’s debut full-length album ‘Pure Heroine’ which was released last week, is set for a likely number three launch on next week’s Billboard 200.
What a fantastic achievement. Congratulations, Lorde!
