Lorde scores four Grammy nominations!
The music world is abuzz with all things Grammys after the 2014 nominations were revealed over the weekend, but it isn't just the long list of nominees that has us talking.
On the official website for the Grammy Awards it was announced that "Australian singer/songwriter Lorde will perform," when in fact the songstress is Kiwi. While we’re usually quick to claim New Zealand talent as our own, the blunder was a mistake on behalf of the website which is said to “make the blood of her loyal kiwi fans boil.”
Despite the commotion, the 17-year-old has a lot to smile about after being nominated for four awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for her smash hit ‘Royals.’ Competing against music heavyweights such as Daft Punk, Katy Perry and Robin Thicke, this could be her chance to firmly secure herself a place as one of music's most elite.
Other nominees who are in for a big night include Justin Timberlake, Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis who are up for seven nominations, while Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Pink also got nods.
Social media has since been flooded with Grammy talk, with both nominees and fans taking to Twitter to share their excitement.
“Well, that's a great way to wake up! Thank you @TheGRAMMYs for my TWO nominations! Never imagined a lil old song about 🐯+💪 would have such❤” tweeted Katy Perry.
“Man-nnn...thank you so much! "@TheGRAMMYs: Congrats @pharrell with 7 nominations! #GRAMMYnoms” said Pharrell.
A fan showed her support to Pink by tweeting “you better get those Grammy nominations, mama!” In an endearing reply the singer said “oh honey I can GET nominated! It's the winning I hv trbl w/.”
The '2014 Grammy Awards' will take place on January 29th in Los Angeles. Click here to check out the full list of nominees!
