Guy Sebastian Talks Collaborating With Lupe Fiasco!
Guy told MTV Australia when we sat down last month that he originally came up with the track while he was driving around Los Angeles.
“I left the bit sort of free for whoever the rapper was going to be. In a perfect world it was going to be Lupe, but I know schedules don’t always meet up to and artists don’t always like songs...he might not have been into it, but we asked him and he said yes!” Guy revealed.
“He was down for 'Supafest', came into the studio, no entourage, just him. He had two different versions for the song - it wasn’t like he came in and thought, ‘oh it’s just an Aussie act or whatever, small country, I’ll just wing it on the spot.’ He was really passionate about it.”
And the singer, whose album ‘Armageddon’ is set to drop later this year, was excited to collaborate with the 'Kick, Push' rapper as he felt his rhymes have a lot of “heart and substance.”
“Getting someone like Lupe meant that I wasn’t going to get someone to just rap about booty in the club, you know bling and that sort of stuff,” Sebastian continued.
“He was going to give a lyrical matter which had a bit of heart and substance to it.”
